Il governo Netanyahu si è appena insediato, e sul New York Times appare un commento molto duro, soprattutto col nuovo ministro degli esteri Avigdor Lieberman. Lo firma Ahmad Tibi, deputato alla Knesset, palestinese cittadino d’Israele, con cui Lieberman si è scontrato più volte negli scorsi anni. Temi principali, quelli che diverranno temi caldi nei prossimi mesi: la controversa legge sulla lealtà, l’essere cittadino palestinese in Israele, e l’idea di un transfer di territori. Transfer su cui Tibi è netto:
But Israel has no legal right to any of the occupied Palestinian territories. And Lieberman has no right to offer the land my home is on in exchange for incorporating Jewish settlers into newly defined Israeli state borders. We are citizens of the state of Israel and do not want to exchange our second-class citizenship in our homeland — subject as we are to numerous laws that discriminate against us — for life in a Palestinian Bantustan.
